Studio Rates and Resources

STUDIO RATES:

Wells of Salvation Studio understands that Ministries must carefully manage very limited finances to make dollars stretch as far as possible and to be good stewards of God’s financial provisions. That is why we keep our rates at low as possible. We pay no salaries so that funds from studio work can be used to maintain the studio software and hardware in state-of-the-art technological condition.

For all studio activities (recording, mixing, mastering, programing, production, etc.), our rates are $35 per hour on an hour-by-hour basis. If you prefer to purchase blocks of studio time our rate is $30 per hour in blocks of 10 hours (no refunds for unused hours in a block). Wells of Salvation Studio requests payment in advance for services rendered. You will be provided with an updated statement at the end of each studio session so you always know where you stand.

These rates DO NOT INCLUDE the cost of studio musicians. The only exception to this is for my personal services as a musician (bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, orchestration, midi drums).  My time, if needed, is included in the studio hourly rate. Also, these rates include access to studio equipment such as drums, keyboards, and guitars.

If you have specific questions or needs, I welcome the opportunity to discuss these with you.
Call 937-416-1245.

PAYMENT FOR SESSIONS

Payment is expected at the end of each session for that session. If you have purchased a block of studio time, the entire block must be paid in advance before any session starts. At the end of each session you will be provided with an accounting of time spent to date. Payment methods preferred are cash or cashier’s check. Personal checks are acceptable but not preferred. There will be a $100 returned check fee applied to the project if a check fails to clear. From that point on, payment must be in cash or cashier’s check. At this time we are not able to accept credit card payments.

STUDIO RESOURCES

Wells of Salvation Studios has significant instrument and equipment resources which are available for use in your project in the studio. These include

  • Acoustic and Electric guitars (Taylor, Ovation, Les Paul)
  • Bass guitars (4-string and 5-string)
  • Keyboards (Alesis QS8.1, Roland XP-80 and Roland RD-300s, 70’s vintage Fender-Rhodes 73 Stage Piano)
  • Drum Kit (1970’s vintage Pearl kit (two-toms, rack and floor)
  • Assorted microphones, DI Boxes, Headphones, etc.
  • Guitar Amplifiers (mid-70s Fender Twin Reverb; mid-70s vintage Fender Bassman 50 and others
  • Miscellaneous other stuff

I use Cubase Pro (current version) for recording and Wavelab Pro (current version) for mastering and CD creation. I have 18 years of experience with these software packages. Other studios may use other packages but Cubase and Wavelab help keep my costs low for your benefit.

LIVE-VENUE REMOTE RECORDING

In addition to in-studio recording, Wells of Salvation can come to your live event and provide recording services. We can record up to 24 tracks at once. We have the equipment necessary to connect to your front-of-house system or we can provide front-of-house mixing equipment and services. We cannot and do not provide or arrange for front-of-house or monitor amplification systems or speaker/monitor/in-ear systems.

Rates for live-venue recording are the same as in-studio rates – $35 per hour. The time charged is calculated based on leaving the studio and returning to the studio. This includes local travel time to the event, equipment setup, time at the event, equipment tear-down, load-up and local travel time back to the studio. If your event is outside the local area, we can still provide recording services but transportation and travel charges will be quoted based on event details. Wells of Salvation Studio has recorded live events as far away as Spokane, Washington and Tororo, Uganda (Africa)!! (See the Recording Demos page to hear recordings made at these event locations).

SPECIALTY PROJECTS

Specialty projects are projects that are not purely CD-project oriented. These might include projects such as audio books, production of audio commercials and production of programs for radio broadcast or podcast. Wells of Salvation Studio does not get involved in setting up podcasting hosting, but once hosting is set up, we can perform program uploads to the hosting service (within reason). Specialty projects may qualify for reduced pricing depend on factors such as the duration of the project (radio broadcast or Podcast), project complexity and frequency of the broadcast or podcast. Contact me regarding the details of your project and I will provide you with a quote that is sensitive your budget yet accomplishes the goals of your project.
